2: Squash and Stretch on the Head (part one)

28th June 2006

Here are my first attempts at lesson two. I actually did these right after the last set of sketches, but haven’t been able to post them until now.

1: Construction: The Head (Part six)

25th June 2006

I’ve been drawing heads.

lesson1_08

Yes, more from lesson one (still!). I was hoping to get a lot more construction sketches done this weekend but you know how they just fly on by!

1: Construction: The Head (Part five)

19th June 2006

One more from lesson one. These went a little bit better, though I noticed that for some reason I tend to add a bit of extra width to the heads. I’ll have to keep a tab on that.

lesson1_07

One good thing I’ve noticed is that I’m getting a bit more confident with just putting the pencil on paper and going for it. These were sketched out much quicker than any of the previous pages of heads. Now I just need to keep my accuracy under check!

I have been having problems with comments. If you tried before but didn’t have any luck, try again. It should all be fixed now!

1: Construction: The Head (Part four)

19th June 2006

More from lesson one. Ok. These ones really are giving me a headache — they’re just not going right! I will come back to them…

1: Construction: The Head (Part three)

12th June 2006

More heads from lesson one

1: Construction: The Head (Part two)

10th June 2006

Ok, I have my scanner back, so let’s get on with the show…

Another bear head, which I’m fairly pleased with. I’ve yet to check it against the original so be prepared for me to change my mind!

Next up are a bunch of eggs. Yes, still lesson one. Now, I’ve been working on some of the more complex heads as well and I’ve found these simple eggs to be the hardest thing! I’m not really happy with them at all… so I guess I’ll be doing these again!

More to come…

1: Construction: The Head (Part one)

25th May 2006

The start of lesson one. Apologies for these awful scans. I’ll have to get my own scanner out of the loft and hope it reads the blue pencil a bit better than this one. I’ve had to adjust the levels so much that they barely look like the originals.

If not I might have to go back to graphite.

Here’s the original Preston Blair image:

I’m going to continue working on this lesson and also compare them to the original images in Photoshop to see where I’m going wrong.
